I’d like to shed some light on a fascinating aspect of your soul’s journey—and that is when your soul is living multiple simultaneous lives.
The question I received was about souls “splitting off” to be in more places than one. Experiencing simultaneous lives is something souls do by inhabiting more than one body at a time. This means your soul, right now, may be living in a completely different part of the world. I’m currently teaching piano in Paris, as well as living in four other places.
A client of mine is a former attorney and mother of four in Florida. But her soul is also living simultaneous lives in three other places right now. She’s a Greek steward on a cruise ship, a woman struggling to run a café in Mexico City, and an unemployed French college professor of Algerian descent.
Why would your soul choose to be in more than one place at one time? Isn’t this life enough to deal with?
There are two reasons. The first is that we have a rapidly expanding population. To prevent a huge imbalance between young and old souls, the older ones choose to have multiple simultaneous lives in several locations, rather than just one.
The second reason or, perhaps, a benefit of the first, is an opportunity for extra growth. If your soul can make significant spiritual progress in just one incarnation, imagine what can be achieved with five virtually simultaneous lifetimes?
Most people are unaware of their other current lives. You might have a vague feeling of familiarity with a certain location because a part of your soul is living there, but it’s nothing like the sense of déjà vu you can get from revisiting the scene of a past life.
Your soul is not diminished as a result of being in several locations at once. Think of it as you would a candle flame. If you light one candle off another, is either one any less than it was before?
Your soul is able to expand to easily handle other simultaneous incarnations.
If your soul is in five other places, each person hosting that soul will come into this life with a unique life plan. They’ll look very different from one another. However, each will carry the same fears and past life memories. That means they’ll have similar lessons to learn.
Though the other aspects of your soul have virtually no influence on your behavior in this life, when you reunite with these other pieces of you on the Astral Plane, the cumulative experience of those simultaneous lives is brought to bear. The growth is enormous.
And because all of you have been working on the same issues from an earlier incarnation, challenges like low self-esteem or mistrust, that might otherwise take a century or two to heal, can be eliminated in the space of a generation.
It takes an experienced, older soul to pull off living multiple lives at the same time. For that reason, young souls would never feel the need to do so. With loads of lives ahead of them, they can afford to take their time.
You, on the other hand, want to pack in as much as you can in your last few lifetimes.

What hapens if you meet your other soul? Do you recognize it?
I’m going to write about this topic in the future.
Have any of you guys been watching Sense8 on Netflix? its an amazing series along these same lines. For the last several years, I have been waking up tired and remembering “working” in several other places, and not just on this planet – this definitely helps explain a lot.
I need to check it out!
thank you for your answer.i met someone from my past life.i am trying to help her understand but she is a little close minded.were both christian but thats all we gave in common.we became friends but i still need to tell her we both had a past life together.it hasnt been easy.
It’s not always a happy encounter, though always by agreement. I’ll write more on this.
I have met twice my other bodies and it like two magnets repelling each other as I was pushed away a few feet then we could talk.
Does our souls have freewill to reemerge at any place and time they may choose? Does GOD restrain the soul in any way??
Hi Ainslie,
What happens if you run into one of your other incarnations? I had a weird experience once with someone. It was if I was looking into a mirror even though she did not look like me. I could tell the other person was having the same experience. Unfortunately I was with a group of people who were leaving that area and could not take the time to speak with her. I have always been curious about her ever since.
There could be many reasons for the connection you felt. It’s an interesting topic, encountering one of our simultaneous incarnations. I’ll be blogging about this in the future!
Fascinating! If we are effected by our past lives, ie physical issues being encountered now are actually rooted in a past life, then if we have simultaneous multiple lives, is there a bleed through of physical issues because in reality we are one? And is there anyway to deal with that?? Thanks!
If your simultaneous incarnation in Barcelona breaks a leg, you won’t know about it. But you might both have a weakness in your lungs from carbon monoxide poisoning in an earlier life.
Is it possible this is at least part of the reason so many old souls are often exhausted?
Apparently not. There’s really no influence or bleed through. Old souls are more likely to get exhausted from the conscious mind picking up on the emotional baggage of past life trauma.
This is something that has crossed my mind several times..hmmm
I’ll post more on this soon.
I am so interested in hearing more. I read somewhere else that this happens and it just rang my bells! I felt like I finally heard something I needed to be conscious of. And felt like I’d been doing this many times over. Looking forward to the next blog!
Glad you find it illuminating!
I hope that you will be instructing us how to learn about our other simultaneous lives, Ainslie, because I”m sure most of us would like to know something about them.
In a previous lecture or possibly a Q&A you mentioned that if your old soul is living multiple incarnations, as each incarnation ends they gather on the astral plane, until all have finished their incarnations, and then the soul proceeds on to the Causal Plane. Did I understand you correctly? If not, would you please teach me again?
Thanks! Fascinating stuff!
The Spirit Guides are not hugely interested in this subject because you’re generally unaffected by the other lives until this incarnation is over. I’ll give some more info in a Q&A sometime.
I’m just wondering, how do I know if I’m a flame of the candle or the main flame, like i could be an extension of the main soul…I suppose there is no big reason for knowing if it doesn’t matter till we move onto the spirit world, and it is a big relief to know your not effected by the other flames, and it’s past life work that is still the forefront to concentrate on, great insight thank you 🖤
Hi Ainslie,
Fascinating! My question is, just because we have a rapidly expanding population on Earth, does that necessarily mean that the majority of this is young souls (that would need to be balanced out by older souls living multiple simultaneous lives)? I have a teacher who, like you, has a strong direct connection with Spirit Guides. She has learned through them that because of increases in the Schumann frequency over the last few years, Earth is actually attracting more mature and old souls than before (which still aren’t the majority, but are a growing minority that could – will? – ultimately be the majority). I’m trying to reconcile the information I’ve learned from her and the information you’re sharing here. Thank you! 🙂
If old souls didn’t split off, the imbalance would be very noticeable. The old souls have to be ones who’ve had lives here on Earth, rather than ones from elsewhere. Hope this helps.
I really appreciated this article Ainslie. As an old soul, I have often felt that I am living multiple lives during this time frame. As hard as my life has been at times, I can’t believe that I would have signed on for multiple lives while on the Astral Plane. Obviously, I must think about things much differently when there than I do here. As always, I appreciate your continued insights and advice, because they provide both comfort and strength to me.
We make a lot of choices on the Astral Plane that we don’t feel so enthusiastic about once we get here. I talk about the baby who arrives here, looks around, and goes, “Aw, crap. I’m a baby again.”
I think I’ve asked this before, but didn’t see/get a reply (the timing may have been off). I have three others – a woman in Canada, a woman in Germany and a man in Italy. What if one of them is dropping the ball on their mission and life plan? Like seriously screwing up. Does this affect the growth of my soul?
You seem to get such a boost of growth from having more than one life going – I wouldn’t worry. All stuff you can deal with on the Astral Plane.
Do you know the work of Michael Newton? He does Life Between Lives regressions and has several great books out. I love and resonate strongly with his work. In any case, he speaks briefly about this in one of his books. You might love his stuff Ainslie. A colleague of sorts.
I know of him. I have a book somewhere. I should check it out.

Common information known for some time. Theosophical societies and a few going back to the time of Egypt were aware of this. Perception, Wisdom, and Knowledge affect all.
This answers my question, thank you
I’ve been struggling with the fact that I have memories of 2 past lives in WWII and Vietnam era
I have all my PLs in line (no pun intented) and while my 1960 lives is one established and the other a hunch, it’s my WWII life that confused me for a very long time, I’ve always known that I was a 101st Airborne paratrooper, with memories right down to company, rank and home town as well as severe reactions during a visit to Normandy, it’s the fact that I was also a Dutch Soldier killed during the German invasion
So this really helped in accepting that both are in fact correct and real memories
Thanks for sharing about your past lives, David. As weird as multiple simultaneous past lives want seem, it makes it easier to understand why you can have a lot of experiences around the same time.
Hi Ainslie, what happens when all of us reunite on the Spiritual plane? Do we have the option of remaining separate beings or do we become one being again? Thanks in advance 🙂
Hello, Allan Kardec himself interviewed spirit guides in his great spiritualist work, and these same spirit guides denied the existence of simultaneous lives because there is no need. Allan Kardec, knowing that many spiritualist schools defended this ancient opinion, questioned the Superior Spirits about the subject in question 137 of The Spirits’ Book, asking if there would be any possibility for the same spirit to incarnate in two different bodies. And he received a peremptory response: “- No. The Spirit is indivisible and cannot simultaneously animate two different beings.”
How do you know about your other bodies? Because you remember from astral travel and meeting them there?
