Walking the Path of Justice: A Spiritual Calling for Old Souls

by | Apr 2, 2026 | Injustice | 5 comments

If your soul has one purpose, it’s this: to evolve. It wants to know what being human is all about. Which is why it keeps coming back to the Physical Plane again and again – to explore new lessons with each incarnation. And after many lifetimes, old souls begin to truly understand universal core values like Justice, Peace and Freedom.

The Ten Paths of the Soul

My spirit guides often remind me that every soul comes into this world with the same core values, described as paths. You walk each path to reach its related goal, and to embody that specific core value.

There are ten paths in total: Cooperation, Respect, Knowledge, Equality, Understanding, Justice, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Love.

These paths aren’t just abstract ideals. They’re the values that help move humanity forward. Every lifetime gives us opportunities to experience them, learn from them, and gradually embody them more fully.

Connecting with the ten paths of the soul is how you elevate your consciousness in this lifetime, not in some distant future. As more challenges unfold on the Physical Plane, people are beginning to wake up to these paths. And as more and more old souls embody the values associated with each path, it becomes that much easier for others to follow.

Why the Path of Justice Matters Now

I’m sure you’re aware of the harm being done to immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, other innocent people, and the Earth itself. And I’m sure you’ve also noticed that very few people seem to be truly held accountable.

For many old souls, this is more than upsetting. It is deeply triggering. There’s a collective sense of unfairness and outrage right now, and people are being triggered at massive scale by what they’re witnessing – whether it’s something happening close to home or on a global level.

You may have heard me say before that some paths are “up” for you in this life. Well it seems the path of Justice is “up” for us as a collective right now.

The difficulty is that this can very easily lead to extremes. There’s a real risk of people either disengaging completely, because it feels like too much and they don’t know what to do, or getting so caught up in it that they burn themselves out.

What’s needed is a healthier relationship with what’s happening – being able to see injustice clearly for what it is, without turning away from it, but also without losing yourself in anxiety, fear, or overwhelm. I’ll share more about what that looks like later in this post. First, I’ll explain the connection between past lives and the path of Justice.

When Your Soul Expects Justice

Every soul comes into the world with expectations, and justice is one of them. When the soul experiences injustice – perhaps it dies in a prison in a past life for a trivial crime like stealing a loaf of bread – the feelings of injustice don’t simply disappear. They carry forward into future incarnations, often showing up as a deep fear of Betrayal, a heightened sensitivity to fairness, and a strong reaction when something feels off or unjust.

If you carry that fear at a soul level, you may notice that you feel things more strongly than other people when it comes to fairness – not just in your own life, but also in what you see happening around you. And it goes beyond fairness in the abstract. When you have known betrayal at a soul level, being let down can feel profound. Even witnessing injustice happening to somebody else can stir something deep inside you.

This is one reason some people react so strongly when others are careless with their word. To one person, being late, forgetting something, or failing to follow through may seem minor. But to somebody walking the path of justice, it can touch a much deeper wound. The feeling is not just irritation. It is, “If I can’t trust you to turn up on time, how can I trust you with my heart, my safety, or my future?”

That pull toward wanting things to be put right is difficult to ignore. And for some people, it becomes part of their work in the world through law, advocacy, or other forms of community service. I have clients who became lawyers in this life to help make the world a fair place. Some carry what the spirit guides refer to as a humanitarian soul – people who are drawn to work where they can actually fight injustice, not just empathize with it.

But even when it isn’t a career, the pull is there. If you have a past life in which you were the victim of injustice, you’ll find that passion for fairness runs through this life too – for yourself and for others. It is one of the ways the soul finds its way back toward healing.

Why There’s So Much Injustice in the World

You may have heard me quote my spirit guides when they say: “The world was never meant to be the way it is.”

We have massive injustice in all areas of life. But why?

Well, the soul’s journey, as I often say, takes you from a place of fear to love, from selfishness to altruism, or from a place of “me” to “we.”

When the soul is young, it’s still learning that we’re all humans beneath the skin. Young souls see what divides us rather than what unites us, which results in injustice of all kinds: racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, classism, and more.

Young souls are also drawn to power (they’re not struggling with old soul fatigue, like so many of us “senior citizens” are). And once they’re there, their focus is more on benefiting themselves, and those who look and think like them. Which is one of the reasons we have such incredible income disparity. It’s also why we have a two-tier justice system, and why climate change is wreaking such havoc on the planet.

Another part of the problem is that young souls are unable to grasp the reality of reincarnation. To them, life is a one-shot deal. They’re here to make their pile, often at great cost to future generations.

Lack of empathy makes it hard for them to picture themselves as a victim of injustice. But when they do become victims, they’re the ones who squawk the loudest.

How to Walk This Path Without Burning Out

Although things look bleak in our current environment, there is hope for the future. As young souls embrace the false security of totalitarianism and its associated unfettered greed, more and more old souls are stepping up to redress the balance. Millions of people taking to the streets in No Kings protests are a great example of this.

We all need to do our bit to stand up against injustice. Speak out. Take action. Support or join organizations that fight for a more fair and just world. And turn any anger that you might have into positive action.

But how do you battle for justice when you sometimes feel overwhelmed by injustice?

The first thing is not to try to take in everything. From personal experience, that’s what leads to overwhelm. You don’t have to carry all of it. A more helpful approach is to stay focused on what’s in front of you, and ask for guidance when you need it. I often ask my spirit guides, “What is the loving path here?” or “What’s the best way to approach this?” As they often say – if you take one step toward us, we’ll take two toward you.

It’s also important not to try to do this alone. There is real strength in numbers, and whether you’re joining an existing group or simply connecting with others who care about the same things, there’s power in coming together. We are meant to give a voice to those who cannot be heard, and to support those who cannot support themselves.

Your Calling as an Old Soul

A fairer world is possible. But right now, there’s no deus ex machina – no “god in the machine” – that’s going to help us. We need to do this ourselves.

As an old soul walking the path of Justice, it’s incumbent upon you to work towards being the change that you want to see.

The world is not always fair, and justice can often feel elusive. As an old soul, you’re continually guided to make the world a more fair and just place.

Stand up against injustice when you see it. Lend your voice to others who call for justice.

This is your calling. This is your time.

It was only a few months ago that a friend from Colombia told me I’m an old soul. Even though I’m a very spiritually oriented person and knew quite a bit, at first I didn’t really understand what the term “old soul” meant. I started researching it, and my path led me to Ainslie’s book. It was a revelation to me, and I finally understood everything that had happened in my life up to that point. Unfortunately, I realized that in the past, I had been my own worst enemy.
    I had always ignored myself.
I betrayed my intuition. Most of the time, I tended to listen to other people instead. I always took the path of least resistance. I betrayed my intuitive insights. For that, I have paid a very, very high price in my life to this day.
Depression. Anxiety. A life dictated by others. Since 2022, I have been actively working to reclaim my authentic life.
In 2018, I freed myself from a forced marriage. And in 2022, I quit my hated job in the public sector. I now live with a new partner by my side, whom I can rightly call my soulmate. My God, true love can be so magical.
I am currently in the process of starting my own business to help others reclaim their sovereignty. To this end, I have developed my own concept, to which I owe my life. The dream I had as a fourteen-year-old to make the world a better place, I am now living out piece by piece.
Thank you, Ainslie, for the fantastic book.

It really is just as Ainslie always said: Knowledge expands consciousness. Ignorance keeps people trapped in illusion.

    Warm regards from Germany

If you’re reading my blog posts, you’re probably an old soul. Young souls are not interested in spiritual development. Isn’t it life-changing when you begin following your intuition and living the life your soul intended? Congratulations on achieving such amazing transformation.

It’s actually true that when an old soul listens to their intuition, their life becomes simply magical.
One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in my life was listening to the advice of young souls for so long.
I prioritized their opinions over my own intuitive wisdom, and as a result, I experienced a great deal of suffering in my life.

Lately, I’ve learned a lot about myself and come to realize something—it was a revelation for me. I was finally able to make peace with myself and accept myself just as I am.
    I gained my inner freedom.
Right now, I’m still reading your books *Instruction* and *Transformation*.
And honestly, the more I delve into your topics, the more I realize that when people behave in an objectively irrational way, there’s a very high probability that it has its roots in a past life, which has been triggered by something in the present.
This realization—along with the insight about young souls and how they see the world in black and white—has made me more understanding toward these people. Young souls, in particular, are unable to recognize certain connections and see the world in black and white. I couldn’t understand why some people around me were unable to recognize certain problems we’re currently facing in Germany and Europe…. Because I’m an old soul, I’ve so far accurately predicted everything I’d foreseen regarding society… And I’ve always been criticized for it… I couldn’t understand why other people around me couldn’t recognize objective truth…. It was only through your books that I became aware of the dynamics at play, and for that I thank you very much. I’m not saying it’s always easy for me—I still struggle greatly to accept other people as they are—but I’m continuing to work on myself.
