My client, Josh, is a 47-year old male, and the father of two children, aged nine and twelve. We were recently working on healing a major past life trauma that has resulted in a sleep disorder causing such severe insomnia that he’s lucky to sleep more than two hours a night, and that’s with the help of a big dose of Ambien. In my past life stories, whether about celebrities or people just like you, it’s important to learn how what happened in your past lives impacts you in this one. And what you can do about it. My spirit guides told me that all that ails Josh lies in his soul’s past life. Events in this life are no more than triggers or reminders of trauma from prior incarnations. They began telling me what had happened to damage his soul. In his most recent past life Josh was a young girl in Germany at the end of World War 2. At the age of seven, she was forced to hide from air raids in a cellar packed with people. I asked Josh if he had a problem with crowded elevators. That turned out to be a particularly strong fear of his. He also told me how, as a child, he was terrified of the cellar in the family home. To cut this long past life story short, the girl lost her mother in a bombing at night, was sent to a stay in a camp with other refugees; eventually ending up in a foster home where she was sexually abused at night, by the father of the house. It’s no surprise that Josh’s soul has a fear of darkness. Most people with significant past-life trauma from events that happened at night have the same fear. They can’t sleep, or wake up at the same time every night. Josh’s soul feels the need to be watchful. I describe it as the soul sleeping with one eye open. The trauma the girl suffered caused her to be inarticulate (Josh has always stammered when he gets stressed), and the hunger she experienced has left a resonance, too. (Josh has weight issues and always has to have food around.) The girl ended her life by her own hand. She found a revolver and shot herself in the chest. I asked Josh if he’d ever thought about shooting himself. “All my life,” he replied. And then the spirit guides changed tack. “I want to talk to you about your son, the one with Asperger’s,” I said. Josh’s first reaction was, “What? I never told you I had a child with Asperger Syndrome!” What the guides wanted to explore was the connection between the trauma from the past life in Germany, and Josh’s relationship with his son, Malcolm. In this life, the fear from the past has caused Josh’s heart chakra to shut down for safety. To put it simply, the more open your heart chakra, the more you can love and be loved. When it’s closed, other souls are unable to connect and will sometimes avoid getting close to you. The most common chakra closers are fears of intimacy, rejection, and loss. Josh is dealing with them all, and a few others, too. “I always knew that I was very protective of anyone getting close to me,” Josh said. “My closed heart chakra has impacted everyone who has come close to me in this life, including my parents, grandparents, and more importantly, my own children. “Malcolm was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at the age of five. I always knew he was different. He didn’t speak until he was three, and never made eye contact. “Because of his outward appearance, I never opened my heart to him. My instinct was to treat him the way he portrayed himself: distant and not connected. I never showed affection or made any effort to connect with him.” Asperger Syndrome, or Asperger’s, is described as an autism spectrum disorder. It causes a person to have difficulty interacting with others. Children with the condition often have repetitive patterns of behavior and obsessions. Malcolm is a typical Asperger child, distant and, in his case, obsessed with such things as ceiling fans, air fresheners, and solar lights. I told Josh how exploring the German past life would open his heart chakra, as his soul was reminded that, “that was then, this is now.” And I explained that this shift would have a major impact on Malcolm. “Just because he doesn’t appear to be paying attention or looking at you, doesn’t mean his soul doesn’t know how you feel about him,” I told Josh. “In someone with Asperger’s, a part of the brain is shut off, but other parts are opened. If you’re ambivalent towards him, he’ll know it. If you’re holding back love, he’ll feel that deeply.” After the session, Josh wrote to me, “The impact on Malcolm has been life changing! He’s calmer and more loving than ever before. He’s more engaged and normal than he’s ever been. “I’m not saying that his Asperger’s is cured,” Josh continued, “But I am saying that he is definitely different in a good way. I’m sure it has everything to do with the opening of my heart chakra. “My message to parents throughout the world who have been blessed with an Asperger child is this: Don’t assume that your Asperger child is not aware of the emotions you radiate. They know! Even though they may not show external signs of recognizing your love, they are extremely sensitive to you and your actions.” It’s not just Malcolm who has undergone a shift. “This has changed both my children,” Josh said. “They are more loving and open now than they’ve ever been. This experience has changed me forever! Thank you Ainslie! Thank you Spirit Guides! Thank you God!” In case you’re wondering, Josh tells me he’s started getting an extra few hours of sleep most nights, and Malcolm’s obsession with solar lights has changed focus. He’s become an amazing potter, exhibiting at art fairs and trade shows, and has his own website and Facebook page. “I could not be more proud of him!” Josh says. For Josh, a fear of authority, which went directly back to the abuses of the German life, has disappeared completely. “There’s been a change in how I view and react to people in authority,” he said. “I’ve lost that fear! Up until our session, I was extremely afraid of anyone in power. I no longer have any fear. It’s crazy!” Crazy or not, the key to healing past life trauma is often as simple as reminding your soul that “that was then, this is now.” It allows the soul to recognize that it no longer has to be on high alert, and can relegate memories of traumatic events to the past where they belong. There are many ways to learn about who you were in your past lives.
